Laboratorium Pieśni will present its new album “Septem” at Scena Dekadencja in Szczecin. The title comes from Latin and means “seven,” referring to the number of performers and the seven songs about the world.
The songs are performed a cappella or accompanied by shamanic drums and other ethnic instruments: shruti box, flutes, bells, and rattles. The arrangements combine ancient tradition with multi-voice improvisation, while the women's voices create intuitive compositions, often inspired by nature and paratheatrical elements.
The artists describe the album as the fruit of a shared journey lasting over ten years. In many cultures, the number seven was considered a mystical symbol, which the ensemble associates with perfection, wholeness, and the pursuit of truth.
