A lake in the Drawsko Lakeland with an area of 1487.5 ha, with beaches, holiday centres and canoe and cycle routes.
Lubie is one of the larger lakes of the Drawsko Lakeland, located south-east of Drawsko Pomorskie, in Złocieniec municipality. It has an area of 1487.5 ha, a depth of up to 46.2 m and a length of 14.1 km. Visitors will find sandy beaches, holiday centres and two routes around and across the lake: a canoe trail and a cycle route.
The water surface lies at a height of 95.5 m above sea level. There are four named islands on the lake: Sołtysie, Rybaki, Kamieniec and Ptaszyniec, as well as Nameless Island (Wyspa Bezimienna). The southern shore is covered by the Drawa Forest, and the Drawa River flows through the lake. In 1998 and 1999 surveys confirmed a population of relict post-glacial crustaceans here.
The villages of Gudowo, Lubieszewo and Karwice and the settlement of Błędno lie by the lake. According to Wikipedia there are at least seven holiday centres here, as well as private rooms, campsites and several tent fields. The canoe trail named after Cardinal Karol Wojtyła and a cycle route about 50 km long run through the lake.
Part of the southern shore, on the Karwice side, lies in the Karwice Pine Forests within the Drawsko Training Area and is closed to civilians.
