A lake in the centre of Nowogard, surrounded by a park and medieval defensive walls from the 14th century.
Lake Nowogard lies in the very centre of Nowogard, in Goleniów County. It is separated from the town by a strip of park and by historic defensive walls from the first half of the 14th century.
The lake is 2,410 m long and up to 600 m wide, and its surface area, according to Wikipedia, is from 95.0 ha (Adam Choiński's Katalog jezior Polski) to 98.3 ha (the Inland Fisheries Institute). The average depth is 5.2 m and the greatest 10.9 m. The shore is surrounded by a park, so the water and a walk along it are part of the urban space of Nowogard.
Between the lake and the town run medieval defensive walls from the first half of the 14th century. By the lake there is also the “Sarni Las” nature and landscape complex. Nearby stands the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and a Jewish cemetery has also survived in the town.
