About Church of Our Lady of Częstochowa in Kicko

A branch church of stone and brick in Kicko, with a gable with blind arcading, an 18th-century pulpit altar and an organ from 1904.

The Church of Our Lady of Częstochowa in Kicko belongs to the parish in Stara Dąbrowa (the Church of St Joseph in Stara Dąbrowa). The Wikipedia entry dates it to the 16th century, the heritage register to the 15th century. Built of stone and brick, it has a rectangular plan and a gable roof. The rebuilding in the 19th century blurred its original Gothic character.

Architecture

The east gable is decorated with blind arcading, and at the corners there are pinnacles. The windows are set high and deep, closed with a pointed or a full arch. On the west side is the entrance portal, and in the east elevation traces of two bricked-up pointed portals can be seen. The chancel is closed by a straight wall.

Furnishings

On the 19th-century gallery stands an organ by the Szczecin firm of Grüneberg from 1904. In the church is an 18th-century pulpit altar moved from Kiczarów and a side altar from the same century, as well as two pewter candlesticks from 1699. In front of the entrance lies a Romanesque font, and on the wooden bell tower hangs a bell from 1825. After the war the church was consecrated on 20 April 1948.
