Half-timbered church of 1578-1579 in Starogard, with a tower added in 1908, an 18th-century pulpit and a stone font.
The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Starogard is a half-timbered church built in 1578-1579 and entered in the heritage register. It stands in the village of Starogard in Resko municipality, in Łobez County, and is now a parish church.
The building was erected in half-timbered construction on a rectangular plan, with a chancel closed on three sides. The former entrance on the south side and the lower row of windows were bricked up, and modern annexes were added on both sides. In 1908 a plastered brick tower was added on the west side. Its upper storey is half-timbered, with a gabled roof with hipped ends and a slender sheet-metal ridge turret.
The ceiling is wooden, with exposed beams. Above the entrance hangs a gallery on carved beams with an organ case. The church has an 18th-century pulpit and a stone font, and three chancel windows hold stained glass with saints dating from 1908. It was consecrated as a Catholic church on 21 July 1946. Right next to it lie the ruins of the von Borcke palace.
