A church from the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries, rebuilt after the fire of 1908, with a Neo-Gothic pulpit of 1907 and an altar from the 18th century.
The Church of St Anne in Babinek, in Banie municipality, is a former Protestant church, today a Catholic filial church of the parish in Lubicz. It was founded at the turn of the medieval centuries, and its present appearance it owes to the rebuilding after the fire of 1907.
The church, which according to the Wikipedia entry was built at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries, had a half-timbered tower added in the 18th century. It burned down in 1907, and a year later it was rebuilt as a Neo-Romanesque building with a tall tower and an apse-shaped chancel. The dates of its beginnings given in the sources do not agree: zabytek.pl gives the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries, and 1908 is the date of the rebuilding after the fire.
The entrance leads through a side wall. The ceiling is wooden, and on the west wall stands a gallery. The furnishings from the time of the rebuilding have survived: two rows of pews and a Neo-Gothic pulpit made in Gdańsk in 1907. In the chancel there is an altar from the 18th century with a painting of St Anne inserted in modern times, and at its sides two epitaphs of members of the von Lenke family, former owners of the village. After the war the church was consecrated as a Catholic church in July 1946.
In the neighbourhood lie the church in Czarnówek and the parish church in Lubicz.
