Half-timbered church of the 19th century in Brzeźniak, built after the fire of the previous church in 1823, with a tower added in 2007.
The Church of St Nicholas the Bishop in Brzeźniak, in Węgorzyno municipality, is a half-timbered building of the 19th century. It stands in the centre of the village, on the site of the previous church, which burned down in 1823. It is a branch of the parish in Węgorzyno.
The church has the plan of an elongated rectangle, closed on the east side by a plain wall, and a gabled roof with boarded gables. The ground is uneven: the eastern part stands on a foundation, and steps lead to the entrance in the south wall, while on the west side the level of the building is flush with the ground. The portal is rectangular, and the windows are closed with pointed arches. Originally the church had no tower; it was added only in 2007, after a renovation in 2005.
The flat ceiling is beamed. The furnishings are wooden pews, a decorated choir gallery with an organ case and a 19th-century picture of the Risen Christ in the chancel wall. The church was consecrated as a Catholic church on 6 December 1945. Right next to it, about 200 m away, lies the manor park in Brzeźniak.
