Bridge over the Old Świna linking Karsibór with Ognica, opened in 2012, 407 m long.
The Piast Bridge in Świnoujście links two parts of the town: Karsibór island and Ognica on Wolin Island. It runs over the Old Świna, by the Piast Canal, and according to the Wikipedia entry it is the only bridge spanning this watercourse.
Since the digging of the Piast Canal in 1874-1880 the only link between Karsibór and the outside world was a ferry. The first bridge was opened in 1966, on the occasion of the millennium of the Polish state. It was 380.5 m long and had a single carriageway 425 cm wide, with shuttle traffic controlled by signals.
The new bridge was opened on 6 December 2012. It is 407 m long, 9.3 m wide and 6.3 m high, with a two-lane carriageway and a pavement for pedestrians. Its load capacity is 50 t; by comparison, the old bridge before demolition withstood about 10 t.
