A group of three historic buildings by the Collegiate Church of St Mary, a former school and museum seat, forming part of a Historic Monument.
The Rectory of the Collegiate Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Stargard is a group of historic buildings at the corner of Kazimierza Wielkiego and Bolesława Krzywoustego streets, right next to the Collegiate Church of St Mary. It is popularly called the Organistówka (organist's house). The rectory group, the collegiate church and the defensive walls were declared a Historic Monument (pomnik historii) in 2010 by regulation of the President of Poland.
The building on the Kazimierza Wielkiego Street side was probably erected in the late 14th century as the seat of the school Schola Gloriosae Mariae Virginis. Its walls are decorated with modest blind arcades with rectangular windows, and the half-timbered gables date from the 19th century. The heritage register describes it as Gothic, of brick.
The middle building from the 16th century served the parish priest, and later the deaconry. Its decoration, partly modelled on the town hall, consists of blind arcades with late Gothic arches, cornices and rudimentary forms of tracery with the Renaissance “swallowtail” motif. A small half-timbered building from the 19th century adjoins the townhouse, and in the 1980s a fourth was added.
After the Reformation the deaconry and the organist's dwelling were housed here, and in 1938 the town bought the building for the Regional Museum. The rectory survived the Second World War without major damage. From 1958 it served as a boarding house of a vocational school, and in 1959 it passed into the ownership of the parish.
