A seaport in the centre of Świnoujście on the Świna strait, with a ferry terminal, an LNG terminal and a yacht harbour.
The seaport of Świnoujście lies on the Pomeranian Bay, in the Świna strait, on the islands of Uznam (Usedom) and Wolin. It occupies the central part of the town, on both the eastern and western sides of the strait. It is at once a cargo, passenger and yacht port, and from the sea it is protected by two breakwaters.
The port has a cargo quay, an LNG terminal, a passenger terminal and a yacht harbour. All large sea-going ships bound for Szczecin must pass through Świnoujście, because the two ports form a complex and are linked by one fairway across the Szczecin Lagoon. The Świnoujście Ferry Terminal and the Morska Stocznia Remontowa shipyard are also mentioned here. The Coal Basin and the South Basin are occupied by a naval port, which is not part of the seaport.
The entrance to the port is protected by a central breakwater 1400 m long and a western one about 300 m long. The port is reached by a dredged northern approach fairway 60 km long and 14.3 m deep, and the entrance channel is from 180 to 200 m wide. In 2006 the total length of the quays was 5634 m. There are no tides in the port, and in winter the water usually remains free of ice.
The North Basin, sheltered from open water, is in the north-eastern part of the town centre on the island of Uznam. The marina is administered by the Wyspiarz Sports and Recreation Centre. It has about 300 berths for yachts 10-12 m long with a draught of up to 4.5 m, operates all year round and offers winter storage for yachts. On the grounds of the harbour there are a welfare and sanitary building, a tavern and a petrol station.
The port lies in the centre of Świnoujście. About half a kilometre away stands the Sea Fishing Museum.
A few kilometres further on are Stawa Młyny and the lighthouse, and nearby also the forts of the Świnoujście fortress.
Inland, about 1.4 km from the port, lies the Spa Park.
