Forest-steppe reserve in the Chojna municipality with xerothermic grassland on the slope of the Oder valley; walking trails run through the area.
The Słoneczne Wzgórza reserve in the Chojna municipality protects a forest-steppe mosaic of moraine hills that descends all the way to the bank of the Oder, that is, to the state border. It covers just under 50 ha and lies right by the village of Raduń.
The reserve was established in November 2012. The aim of protection is a mosaic of xerothermic grassland and scrub and rich deciduous forests on the slope of the Oder valley between Raduń and Zatonia Dolna. Living here are, among others, the stag beetle and the hermit beetle, and among the birds the white-tailed eagle, the red kite and the eagle owl. The value of this place was already noticed by the Germans in the early 20th century, and efforts for protection began in the 1960s.
Walking trails run through the area of the reserve, so part of the hills can be seen from the route. The reserve lies within the boundaries of the Cedynia Landscape Park, and the area includes, among other things, the palace park complex in Raduń.
