Rodła Square

Szczecin
About Rodła Square

A square in the centre of Szczecin, developed around 1976 on land destroyed in the war, with the Pazim complex and the ZUS building.

Rodła Square is one of the main transport junctions of Szczecin. It lies in the city centre, in the Centrum estate, and is crossed by Wyzwolenia Avenue and Marszałka Józefa Piłsudskiego Street. Tram and bus lines pass through the square.

How the square came about

Before the Second World War, three streets met at this spot: Friedrich-Karl-Strasse, Moltkestrasse and Pölitzer Strasse. During the war the area was heavily bombed and the street buildings were destroyed, so after 1945 an open space was left here. The site was partly developed around 1976, and Rodła Square was created then.

Buildings around the square

Around the square stand the Pazim complex, which since 1992 has housed the headquarters of the PŻM company and the Radisson Blu hotel, and the ZUS building, also from 1992.
