The Film Discussion Club invites you to the Wałeckie Centrum Kultury for a screening of “Donnie Darko,” directed by Richard Kelly. The film will be shown on 27 November 2026 at 7:00 p.m. in the WCK's main auditorium.
The story begins in October 1988 in a small American town. Seventeen-year-old Donnie Darko has trouble sleeping and feels that something is wrong with the world. One night he meets Frank, a figure in a rabbit costume, who predicts the end of the world in 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes and 12 seconds. That same night, an airplane engine crashes into the boy's bedroom, and reality begins to break its own rules: visions appear and questions about time travel arise.
The 2001 film blends psychological drama, science fiction, thriller and coming-of-age story. Jake Gyllenhaal stars in the title role, alongside Jena Malone, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Drew Barrymore and Patrick Swayze, among others. The soundtrack features songs by Tears for Fears, Echo & the Bunnymen and Joy Division.
