The Regionalne Centrum Kultury w Kołobrzegu will present the ballet “The Nutcracker” by the Polish company Royal Classical Ballet on 15 January 2027 at 7:00 p.m. Set to music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, the dancers tell this classic story of good battling evil, aimed at both children and adults.
The story takes place on Christmas Eve. Little Clara finds a wooden nutcracker under the tree, a toy that only she likes. When the family falls asleep and Clara dozes in an armchair, the toy comes to life and fights the mouse army and its king. The girl helps the hero at a decisive moment and receives thanks from the Snow Queen.
In the second act, the Nutcracker turns into a prince and leads Clara to the Land of Sweets. Along the way, they pass dancers performing flamenco, Russian, Chinese and Oriental dances. In the land's capital, Clara is welcomed like a princess and invited to a palace ball, where she waltzes with the prince amid flower garlands. At midnight everything vanishes, and the heroine wakes in the armchair, holding the toy in her arms.
The preview highlights the costumes, choreography and winter atmosphere, and notes that the show brings generations together: it takes children seriously and lets adults rediscover the child within them. Characters include the Sugar Plum Fairy and the ballerinas.
The cast is a group of Royal Classical Ballet dancers who, the preview assures, put great commitment into every step. “The Nutcracker” is part of the classical ballet canon and has enjoyed enduring popularity for years. Its appeal is attributed to the beautiful music, festive mood, masterful choreography, and lavish costumes and sets.
Organizers also stress that the story offers an opportunity for generations to connect. The show has two acts, set in a Christmas setting and the world of childhood imagination. The stage will also feature Clara's brother's toy soldiers, which the Nutcracker leads into battle against the mouse army.
