The Church of John Paul II in Śniatowo is a modern church in the Gothic style, built in 2005-2011 on the site of a church demolished in the 1950s. According to the Wikipedia entry it is the first church in Poland dedicated to Pope John Paul II.
The idea of rebuilding arose in 2005. The foundation stone was laid on 2 April 2007, and the church was built by parishioners, unemployed people, prisoners from the prison in Buniewice, participants of the Szczecin Cycling Pilgrimage and motorcyclists from the Gryf Club of Gryfice. The blessing was performed on 14 May 2011 by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Szczecin-Kamień.
The building of brick and fieldstone has a rectangular plan with buttresses, a chancel and chapels at the sides. The high altar has carved figures of a folk character, and the crucifixes have curved arms referring to the papal cross. The windows have stained glass with saints and blessed persons, among them Fr Jerzy Popiełuszko and Mother Teresa of Calcutta. In the area there is a manor park in Śniatowo.
