A church from the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries with a Neo-Gothic tower of the 19th century, rebuilt from a ruin in 1980.
The Church of Our Lady of Częstochowa in Chełpa is a medieval church from the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries with a Neo-Gothic tower of the 19th century, rebuilt after the post-war destruction.
The church was built on a rectangular plan of fieldstone and brick at the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries (this dating is given by the heritage register). The body of the nave has deeply set arched windows filled with stained glass, and the whole is covered with a gabled roof. In the 19th century the church was rebuilt and on the west a brick, Neo-Gothic tower was added, decorated with a frieze, splays and a rose window, with a pyramidal spire topped with a cross.
After 1945 the church fell into ruin. It was rebuilt in 1980 and blessed on 31 August 1980. Today it is a filial church of the parish of St Stanislaus Kostka in Korytowo, whose church stands nearby: the church in Korytowo.
