About Church of Our Lady of Częstochowa in Stradzewo

A Neo-Gothic brick church from 1876, founded by Gustav Hermann von Germar, with stained-glass rose windows in the tower.

The Church of Our Lady of Częstochowa in Stradzewo was built in 1876, founded by the district councillor Gustav Hermann von Germar. It belongs to the parish of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Choszczno and is entered in the heritage register.

Brick structure with a tower

The church is Neo-Gothic, built of brick on a stone foundation, on a rectangular plan. On the east side it is closed by a chancel lower than the nave, with a polygonal end, and on the west side a square tower adjoins it. The body and the tower have pointed-arch windows, and the tower has an entrance portal and round rose windows with stained glass. The tower is covered with a pyramidal spire topped by a cross.

Inside, on the west wall, is a music gallery. The church was consecrated as a Catholic church on 24 December 1945, and in 1984 a sacristy and a catechetical room were added.

Practical information

  • Village: Stradzewo, Choszczno County.
  • The church is a branch church, so service times and the possibility of seeing the interior are given by the parish - it is worth checking them before a visit.
