Half-timbered church of 1769-1770, formerly Protestant, in a village between lakes Jeleń and Sarcze.
The Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Jeleń is a half-timbered church built in 1769-1770. Formerly Protestant, it is today a Roman Catholic branch church. The heritage register entered it in 1965 and dates it to the end of the 18th century. The village lies in Borne Sulinowo municipality, on national road no. 20.
Jeleń is enclosed by two lakes: Lake Jeleń to the south and Lake Sarcze to the north. It is a former estate of the Pomeranian Bonin family. The heritage register gives half-timbering as the building material. A distillery stands nearby.
North and south of the village, on the shores of the lakes, are early medieval hillforts. West of the village rises Sowia Góra, 182 m above sea level, which the Wikipedia entry describes as a good viewpoint.
About 4.4 km from the village lies the Bagno Ciemino Nature Reserve.
It is about 6-7 km from here to Borne Sulinowo. There visitors take an interest in the Museum of Military History.
