A brick parish church in Malechowo from the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries, without a tower since the fire of 1820.
The Church of Our Lady of the Candlemas is a parish church in Malechowo, in the Sławno deanery. It was built at the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries in the Gothic style and is listed in the heritage register.
In 1820 lightning struck the tower and seriously damaged the church. During the repair the tower was not rebuilt, the windows and roof were replaced, and the original vault was replaced by a beamed ceiling. The building stands on a stone foundation and is built of brick. The plaster that partly covered it was removed during the latest works. The windows have pointed-arch openings, a sacristy was added to the nave on the east side, and the symmetrical façade is decorated with a Neo-Gothic portal. The side façades each have four buttresses. Inside is a gallery on four pillars with an organ case.
The historic furnishings include a late Baroque high altar with a painting of the Last Supper in the predella and a Renaissance font from the 17th century.
Right next to it is the “Tytan” Museum in Malechowo.
