A stone-and-brick filial church from the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries in Skalin, with a wooden tower and a 14th-century bell.
The Church of Our Lady of the Rosary in Skalin, in Stargard municipality, is a Catholic filial church of the parish of St Anthony of Padua in Kobylanka. It was built at the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries on the site of an earlier, wooden church, and today it is entered in the heritage register.
The church has a rectangular plan and is built of stone and brick. In the 19th century the windows and the crown of the walls were rebuilt in brick. In the east elevation there is a stepped entrance portal, and the east and west gables, of brick, are decorated with blind arcades and pinnacles. Stained glass has been fitted in the windows, which are divided by ribs into five parts. Over the west part of the body stands a wooden tower on a square plan, from which rises an octagonal drum with a soaring helm. A bell from the 14th century hangs in it.
The interior is covered by a boarded barrel ceiling. A 19th-century gallery and pews have survived, and the vault and the gallery are painted blue. In the east wall there is a sacrarium in the form of a pointed-arch niche closed with an oak door. After the Second World War the church was consecrated as Catholic on 20 May 1947.
Skalin lies on nearby Lake Miedwie, and it is a few kilometres from here to Stargard.
