Radowo Małe
About Church of Our Lady of the Scapular in Radowo Małe

A granite church of 1840 with prehistoric querns in the wall and a bell of 1580.

The Church of Our Lady of the Scapular in Radowo Małe is a granite church of 1840, built on the site of an earlier medieval church.

Granite and the bell of 1580

The church was built in 1840 of irregular granite stones. Above the portal on the south side is a round opening left by a former sundial, and beside it, set into the wall, prehistoric Lusatian culture querns reused as a holy-water stoup. The interior has a wooden beam ceiling and a choir gallery above the entrance, and in the chancel two windows with stained glass. The medieval altar and pulpit have not survived. On the bell tower next to the church hangs a bell 55 cm in diameter, cast in 1580 in the workshop of Joachim Karsted.

The church was blessed as a Catholic one on 7 September 1945, and since 1985 it has been a parish church. In the area lies, among others, the Church of St John in Borkowo Wielkie.
