Church of St John the Baptist in Bukówko

The Church of St John the Baptist in Bukówko is a brick church of the late 16th century, rebuilt in the late 19th century. It is a branch church in Tychowo municipality, entered in the heritage register, and in the altar it has a picture of Merciful Jesus by Adolf Hyła.

The building

The church was built of brick in the late 16th century and rebuilt in the late 19th century. It belongs to the Białogard deanery of the Koszalin-Kołobrzeg diocese.

The painting by Adolf Hyła

In the main part of the altar hangs a picture of Merciful Jesus, the work of Adolf Hyła. It was commissioned by the parish priest of Tychowo, Father Jan Mleczko, together with other pictures intended for new side altars. When the altars were removed in 1976, the pictures were taken down and hidden in the attic of the presbytery. The picture of Merciful Jesus reached the parish in Dobrowo after some years, and from there the church in Bukówko.

In Dobrowo, about 5 km away, stands the Church of St John Cantius.
