About Church of St Joseph in Trzcinna

A brick Neo-Gothic parish church of 1898, on the site of a medieval church, with a tower with a clock and a turret at the corner.

The Church of St Joseph in Trzcinna, a village in Nowogródek Pomorski municipality, was built in 1898 on the site of an earlier, medieval church. It is entered in the heritage register, and its style is Neo-Gothic.

Architecture

The church stands on a hill. It is a hall building, of brick, unplastered. The rectangular nave ends in a smaller chancel supported by buttresses, and the east gable of the nave is crowned with pinnacles. The windows have a pointed shape. On the west a tower with a clock adjoins it, topped with a tall spire with a ball and a cross, and at its corner a cylindrical turret was added.

Interior

The interior is covered with a raised wooden ceiling. The chancel arch and the side walls of the chancel are covered with paintings, and in the window of the chancel there is stained glass. In the west part of the nave stands a wooden choir gallery with an organ case. Two 19th-century hanging candelabra, pews and a font have also survived. After the Second World War, on 19 May 1946, the church was consecrated as a Catholic one.
