A granite parish church from the second half of the 13th century in Godków, rebuilt from a wartime ruin in 1975-1976.
The Church of St Maximilian Maria Kolbe in Godków, in Chojna municipality, is a parish church built in the second half of the 13th century and entered in the heritage register. It was built of granite blocks.
It is a hall church on a rectangular plan measuring 17.5 by 8.1 metres, covered with a gable roof. In the 19th century it was rebuilt in the Neo-Romanesque style: a massive brick tower with a sacristy was added and the windows were rebuilt. The tower is decorated with blind arcades and brick friezes, and was originally topped with four wimpergs and a pointed helm. In the east wall three narrow pointed-arch windows are cut in a stone blind arcade. In the south-west corner and in the west wall ashlar with mason's chequerboard marks has survived.
After the Second World War the abandoned church fell into ruin. It was rebuilt in 1975-1976 and blessed on 5 December 1976. During the work the appearance of the tower was simplified, and it was given a sheet-metal roof with a cross. Inside there is a music gallery supported on two pillars, and the historic furnishings have not survived. The church adjoins the former cemetery, surrounded by a low stone retaining wall.
It is about six kilometres in a straight line from here to Chojna, where, among others, there is the St Mary's Church, entered in the register.
