Neoclassical church with neo-Romanesque elements in Czaplinek, built from 1829 to a design by Karl Friedrich Schinkel, on a Greek cross plan.
The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Czaplinek was begun in 1829 as a Lutheran church to a design by the German architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel. Today it is an auxiliary church of the Holy Trinity parish. The building is entered in the heritage register.
The building is Neoclassical, with neo-Romanesque elements, and stands on a Greek cross plan. At the ends of the arms of the cross there are false portals and oculi with stained glass, and the actual portal leads in from the north. The walls are of brick.
The walls are covered with modern polychrome decoration of 1954, the work of Władysław Drapiewski. In the chancel there is a ceramic mosaic from the 1980s, and in the side altars wooden sculptures by the Czaplinek artist Edward Szatkowski. On one of the galleries stands a neo-Gothic organ built by the Szczecin firm of Barnim Grüneberger.
The church was consecrated as a Roman Catholic one on 24 October 1999.
In the town there is also the parish Church of the Holy Trinity and the town hall.
