A church from 1937 designed by a Berlin architect, a warehouse after 1945, rebuilt in 2009-2011.
The Church of the Holy Spirit in Mieszkowice, popularly called the “church beyond the tracks”, is a filial church of the parish of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Mieszkowice. It was built in 1937 for the small Catholic community of the pre-war town.
The designer was the Berlin architect Wilhelm Fahibusch. The foundation stone was blessed on 27 June 1937, but the same night it was smashed and robbed of its contents. Father Hubert Mlotzek set it in the wall again on 18 August. The church was blessed and given the dedication of the Holy Spirit on 10 October 1937. The last Mass was held in it on 29 June 1941.
After 1945 the building ceased to serve a sacral function and was used as a fuel store and a fruit and vegetable purchasing point. The parish regained it in 1997. In 2009-2011 the church was rebuilt, and on 27 November 2011 it was consecrated by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Szczecin and Kamień.
The form is geometric, on a rectangular plan with a lower sacristy annexe. The walls, 5 m high, each have five windows, and the most imposing part is the tower with a metal cross. In the single-nave interior, on the central wall, there is a painting of a dove, the symbol of the Holy Spirit, in a ring of rays, and in the corners four adoring angels.
