Former Protestant brick church in Próchnowo on Lake Bytyń Wielki, now a Roman Catholic filial church entered in the heritage register.
The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus stands in Próchnowo, a settlement in Mirosławiec municipality in Wałcz County, on Lake Bytyń Wielki. It is a former Protestant church of red brick, built in the second half of the 19th century. Today it is a filial church of the parish of St Catherine in Marcinkowice.
The Wikipedia entry on the village calls the building Neo-Gothic, while the heritage register (zabytek.pl) calls it eclectic. The building is entered in the register under numbers A-792 from 1997 and A-1307 from 2014.
Próchnowo was already mentioned in 1337; it was a Brandenburg enclave and belonged to the Neumark (New March). Next to the church stands a palace complex from the 19th century, also entered in the register. In the area lies the Wielki Bytyń reserve (2.9 km), and the parish Church of St Catherine in Marcinkowice is 6.3 km away.
