A faunal reserve in Cedynia Landscape Park with two lakes in the forest and a loop educational trail.
The Jeziora Siegniewskie nature reserve in Mieszkowice municipality protects a forest and two lakes within the forest. It covers 23.08 ha and is part of Cedynia Landscape Park. An educational trail in the form of a loop leads through the reserve.
It was established in 1988 to preserve a refuge of waterfowl and songbirds and the aquatic, reed and forest vegetation. It includes 10.40 ha of forest and lakes with areas of 8.7 and 3.98 ha. Over time the water level in the lakes fell considerably, and with it the number of nesting birds and the former aquatic and reed vegetation. In 2011 the aim of protection was changed to preserving the birdlife associated with reeds and forest. Among the protected animals are the white-tailed eagle, the great crested newt, the fire-bellied toad and the otter. Breeding birds include the common crane, the great crested grebe and the marsh harrier.
The loop of the educational trail begins and ends at the forest car park “Siegniew”, equipped with a place for a campfire. On the east side of the reserve runs the blue Terminal Moraine Hills Trail, 55.2 km long, leading from Mieszkowice through the reserve to Moryń, Dolsk, Mętno, Głazy Bliźniaki, Piasek and Bielinek to Lubiechów Dolny.
