Gothic chapel of the 15th century, a remnant of St Mary's Church in Police, which was demolished in 1895, today the seat of a tourist information point.
The Gothic chapel on Plac Bolesława Chrobrego in Police is the only remnant of the Church of St Mary from the 13th and 14th centuries. The church was demolished in 1895 because of its poor technical condition, and the chapel, also called the little church, survived.
The chapel adjoined the south wall of the church. As long as there was a cemetery around it, that is until about 1500, it served as a charnel house. Later an altar was set up in it, which stood here until 1910. Next to the chapel there is a descent, covered with slabs, to the church crypt. In 2007 it housed a jeweller's shop.
The chapel was built on a stone foundation of erratic boulders and covered with a gable roof. The south wall is decorated with a pointed-arch portal with stepped reveals and blind niches, and in the east elevation there is a pointed-arch window between blind niches. The gables are decorated with blind niches in a pyramidal arrangement, three at the east and four at the west. The renovation was financed by the municipality of Police and the county, and the work was completed at the beginning of December 2009, together with the illumination of the building.
