Gothic brick wayside chapel of 1514, probably the last station of a former Way of the Cross outside the town walls.
The Jerusalem Chapel in Myślibórz is a small Gothic brick chapel, consecrated in 1514. It stood outside the town walls as probably the last station of a former Way of the Cross.
According to the Wikipedia entry on Myślibórz, the chapel was consecrated on 1 March 1514 by Bishop Martin of Kamień. It most probably closed the Way of the Cross leading from the town. A legend says that the distance from the Holy Spirit chapel corresponds to the distance between the place where Jesus was condemned by Pilate and the place where Simon of Cyrene helped him carry the cross.
The chapel is brick and plastered, decorated with blind niches. In the pointed-arched portal there is a grille of the 19th century. Inside stands a copy of a Gothic crucifix. Only in the 1990s was it established that the figure of the Crucified Christ in lime wood is an original Gothic sculpture; the original is kept by the Myślibórz Lakeland Museum, housed in the former Holy Spirit chapel. The chapel is entered in the heritage register.
