Dębogóra, Dębogóra
About Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Dębogóra

A stone church from the 15th century with a timber-and-brick tower and an 18th-century altar with a painting of the Visitation.

The Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Dębogóra is a stone filial church from the 15th century, entered in the heritage register and surrounded by a stone wall. It belongs to the parish in Widuchowa.

Erratic boulders and a tower with a cross

The church was built of erratic boulders as an oriented hall church on a rectangular plan, covered with a hipped roof with three slopes. In the 17th century a rebuilding blurred the original architectural forms, and the windows were set in recesses closed with a segmental arch. On the west side a tower was added, brick on the lower storey and wooden above, with a four-sided hipped roof topped with a ball and a cross. In 2008 a general renovation took place, with a new roof and a reconstruction of the tower.

Interior

The interior is covered by a flat beamed ceiling. An 18th-century altar, formerly a pulpit altar, has survived, with plant decoration and columns with ornate capitals, in which a painting of the scene of the Visitation has been placed. In the west part of the nave there is a wooden choir gallery. As a Catholic church it was consecrated in 1946.
