About Church of St Andrew Bobola in Krajnik Górny

A 15th-century stone church with a Renaissance gable, an 18th-century pulpit altar and a processional banner brought from the Borderlands after 1945.

The Church of St Andrew Bobola in Krajnik Górny is a stone parish church from the 15th century, entered in the heritage register. Inside it has an 18th-century pulpit altar and a processional banner that settlers brought from the Borderlands after the war.

A building of erratic boulders

The church was built in the 15th century of erratic boulders as an oriented hall church on a rectangular plan, with a gable roof over the nave. The Renaissance-style gable of the east wall dates from the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries. In the 16th century a tower with a pyramidal helm topped with a cross was added on the west side; two bells hang in it, from the 15th and 18th centuries.

Interior

The interior is covered by a barrel vault. In the chancel stands an 18th-century pulpit altar with small columns, an entablature and carved ornament, with a painting of St Andrew Bobola inserted in modern times. The pulpit with a canopy, decorated with a painting of the Holy Spirit as a dove, has an unusual entrance from outside the church. There is also a choir gallery on pillars and a 19th-century processional banner showing the baptism of Jesus and the Holy Family, brought after 1945 by settlers from Milczyce in the former Lwów Voivodeship.

As a Catholic church it was consecrated in 1946.
