The oldest church in Police, mentioned from 1299, formerly linked to the Augustinian monastery.
The Church of Saints Peter and Paul the Apostles in Police-Jasienica is the oldest of the town's three churches. The first church on this site, under the dedication of the Holy Cross, was mentioned in sources in 1299. Today's building was erected in several stages, and until the Reformation the church was part of an Augustinian monastery.
The first church was built of wooden logs, and after a fire in the 14th century it was rebuilt of sandstone and field stones. At the end of the 17th century it fell into ruin, was demolished and was rebuilt in the Gothic style, being enlarged in 1725. Only the chapel survived from the original building. A tower was added on the west, and the nave was shortened in the 18th century. After a fire in 1858 a new tower was added above the nave, a chancel on the east, and in the 20th century a porch.
In the chancel an oil painting from 1858 has survived, Christ in conversation with Mary and Martha. In 2017 an organ was installed in the church from the Archdiocesan Higher Seminary in Szczecin, which originally came from the Church of St Stanislaus Kostka in Szczecin. The present Catholic parish was established on 29 June 1947, and the parish feast day also falls on that date.
In the same locality lies the Augustinian monastery in Jasienica.
