Neo-Gothic church of 1875-1876 in Szczecin-Podjuchy, built as a Protestant church, with a pre-war gallery and organ case preserved.
The Church of Saints Peter and Paul the Apostles stands at Niklowa 1 in the Podjuchy estate in Szczecin. It is a Neo-Gothic brick church, built in 1875-1876 as a Protestant church, today a Roman Catholic parish church and a monument entered in the register.
The building was constructed to a design by the Szczecin master builder Kruhl on the site of a medieval Gothic church that was completely destroyed by the fire of Podjuchy on 18 August 1868. During the Second World War the church was damaged, and most of its furnishings were looted. After the war it was taken over by Catholics, and the dedication to Peter and Paul was given on 15 September 1945.
The church was built of brick on a rectangular plan with a five-sided apse and a tower on the east side. The façades are framed by flat lesenes, and the windows are in two rows: smaller ones below and larger pointed-arch ones above. The single-space interior is covered by a wooden ceiling. Elements of the pre-war furnishings have survived: a Neo-Gothic gallery and organ case, a font from the early 20th century and a crucifix of 1938 in the porch. On the tower there is the former clock mechanism, and a bell of 1937 hangs there with a quotation from the Book of Jeremiah.
Nearby lies Emerald Lake (Jezioro Szmaragdowe).
