Neo-Gothic brick church of 1889-1890, an Orthodox parish church in Stargard since 1953.
The Orthodox Church of Saints Peter and Paul the Apostles in Stargard is an Orthodox parish church on St John the Baptist Street, just before St John's Gate. It was built as an Evangelical Reformed church in the Neo-Gothic style, and has been Orthodox since 1953.
The brick church was built in 1889-1890 and established on 17 September 1890 as the Christuskirche of the Evangelical Reformed congregation. After the war, until 1951, it was used by Catholics, and in 1953 it was handed over to the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church. The church has been listed in the heritage register since 1987.
The church was built on the plan of a Greek cross, with two slender towers on an octagonal plan. The western, full tower is 33 metres high, and the lower eastern one was left unfinished. According to descriptions, it was given features of Eastern sacred architecture already during construction, although it served Protestants. The elevation is decorated with plant motifs and wimpergs.
The first major renovation after the war lasted from the end of 2007 to the autumn of 2012, and the church was consecrated on 17 November 2012. In 2019 a new iconostasis made in Greece was placed in the church, and in 2024 the renovation of the interior with polychrome painting was completed. On the tower hangs a bell cast in a Szczecin bell foundry in 1890.
The old town with the Collegiate Church, St John's Church and the Pyrzyce Gate lies within a short walk.
