Park by Lake Trzesiecko from the 19th and 20th centuries, with a rose garden, a concert shell, old trees and five cycling trails.
The Town Park in Szczecinek stretches along the Szczecinek part of Lake Trzesiecko, from Lelewela Street as far as the Town Stadium. It was created at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, and today it is one of the most important walking places in the town, closely linked with the lake.
On the town plan of 1893 the first park layouts can be seen on land that was exposed after the lowering of the water level of Trzesiecko. They were clusters of greenery around Ordona Street and the castle, modelled on English parks, with a large share of native species of trees and shrubs. In the interwar years the park clearly gained: a rose garden and a concert shell were created, the area was extended as far as the campsite on Kościuszki Street, and the whole took on an eclectic character. Right by the park stands the Castle of the Pomeranian Dukes.
Among the most interesting specimens are a paper birch by the castle, mighty pedunculate oaks by the stadium, numerous red-osier dogwoods and Swedish whitebeams, and imposing red horse chestnuts and common horse chestnuts. In the park grow trees recognised as natural monuments: a European white elm and a small-leaved lime by the Makuszyński Nursery School, three common yews not far from the general secondary school, and a black poplar in the municipal forest at the level of Pułaskiego Street.
Five cycling trails of the Szczecinek Lakeland run through the park: the blue one around Trzesiecko, the yellow Zaczarowane Pejzaże, the black Nizica, the red Jeziora Szczecineckie and the green Dolina Parsęty. The walk can be finished by the brine graduation tower.
