Park of 7 ha in Stargard, laid out in 1970 on a former Protestant cemetery, next to the Old Cemetery.
Stefan Batory Park in Stargard covers 7 ha and is the second largest park in the town. It lies in the fork of Kościuszki and Spokojna streets, and on the west it adjoins the Old Cemetery.
The park was created on the former Protestant cemetery Neuer Friedhof (New Cemetery), founded in the mid-19th century. In its central part stood a chapel and a funeral house. After the war the cemetery was gradually devastated, and German gravestones were stolen and reworked into monuments. The area was turned into a park in 1970: trees and shrubs were planted, the ground was levelled and benches were installed.
In the 1990s the former layout of paths was recreated, and in 2008 lamps were installed. Near the main gate of the Old Cemetery the only German gravestone has survived, in the form of an erratic boulder.
It is about 0.8 km from here to the centre of the Old Town, for example to the Church of the Holy Spirit.
