An inanimate nature reserve in Drawsko Landscape Park protecting forest brown soil; the red Salt Trail runs alongside.
Brunatna Gleba is a small inanimate nature reserve in Czaplinek municipality, in Drawsko County, protecting a fragment of forest brown soil. It lies in Drawsko Landscape Park.
The reserve, with an area of 1.10 ha, was established on 10 December 1971 to preserve a well-developed brown soil with clearly marked genetic horizons. It is overgrown by fertile, moist lowland beech wood and Pomeranian oak-hornbeam forest. Protected plants listed include sweet woodruff, lily of the valley, common hepatica and the lesser butterfly-orchid. The reserve is under active protection.
On the western side of the reserve runs the red “Salt” Trail for hikers, from Połczyn-Zdrój to Czaplinek. The site lies south-east of the Dolina Pięciu Jezior reserve, and the whole area falls within the boundaries of Drawsko Landscape Park.
