Neo-Gothic church of 1888-1889 with a tower at the west end, built for a Protestant care institution, Catholic since 1957.
St Casimir's Church stands in the Arkońskie-Niemierzyn district of Szczecin, on ul. Broniewskiego. The Neo-Gothic church was built in 1888-1889 as part of a Protestant care institution.
The institution was run by Pastor Wilhelm Bernhard. The church was built on a rectangular plan, with a tower at the west and a chancel at the east. In 1940 the institution was closed down. During the fighting for Szczecin in 1945 the helm of the tower was taken down, because an anti-aircraft position had been set up at its top. After the war Soviet soldiers made a stable in the church, and for a short time it belonged to the faithful of the Polish Catholic Church.
After 1956 the state authorities handed the building over for religious use. On 19 May 1957 it was solemnly consecrated as a Roman Catholic church. The parish of St Casimir was established here on 28 May 1973.
