About St Thérèse of the Child Jesus' Church in Tucze

A Neo-Gothic filial church in Tucze from 1862, built of split stone and brick, with a tower rebuilt to half its height after its collapse in 1949.

St Thérèse of the Child Jesus' Church in Tucze (Dobra municipality, Łobez County) was built in 1862. It belongs to the parish of St Clare in Dobra and is listed in the heritage register.

Body and tower

The church, of split stone and brick, stands on a rectangular plan with a chancel closed on three sides. The gable roof is covered with ceramic tiles, and the east and west gables are stepped, decorated with blind windows. The original tower collapsed in 1949. It was rebuilt in 1955, but only to half its former height. The encyclopaedia entry describes the style as Neo-Gothic, the heritage register as Neo-Romanesque.

Interior

Nineteenth-century furnishings have survived inside: a pulpit, pews and a gallery with an organ case, and a figure of an angel hangs above the chancel. The church was consecrated as a Catholic one on 18 September 1945.
