A reserve of heathland and xerothermic grassland near Cedynia, with a path up a hill and a viewing platform.
The Wrzosowiska Cedyńskie (Cedynia Heaths) steppe reserve, named after Eng. Wiesław Czyżewski, covers 72.02 ha in Cedynia Landscape Park, 3 km south-west of Cedynia, on the south side of provincial road no. 124 towards Osinów Dolny. The reserve is roughly square, with sides of about 0.9 km, and since 2016 it has been open to visitors.
In the north-western part of the reserve a car park and a viewing platform have been set up. From here a path of several hundred metres leads to the top of a 60-metre hill, where there is a shelter. Visitors must not leave the path, and information boards stand along it. At the entrance to the reserve stands a boulder in memory of Wiesław Czyżewski, who was the forest district manager here in 1955-1985. The reserve bears his name.
The aim of protection is hills covered with heathland and sites of xerothermic vegetation and sand grasslands. The reserve was established by a ministerial order of 11 April 1985. Protected species found here include the pale St Bernard's lily, pasqueflower, feather grass, reindeer lichen and Iceland moss. Supervision is carried out by the Mieszkowice Forest District.
The Oder Valley Trail (Szlak Nadodrzański), 144.1 km long, passes through the area of the reserve, leading through Cedynia, Czcibor Hill, Osinów Dolny and Siekierki. The monument on Czcibor Hill lies about 0.5 km west of the reserve, and in Cedynia stands the Regional Museum in Cedynia.
