From Puccini to Webber - The Greatest Hits of Opera and Musical!

Ośrodek Kultury w Złocieńcu invites you on 20 October 2027, at 7:30 p.m., to “From Puccini to Webber - The Greatest Hits of Opera and Musical”, a show from the Pop Opera - From Opera to Musical series. The organisers bill it as the world's first “pop opera”. The programme brings together opera arias, musical numbers and well-known popular songs, performed by artists from the Teatr Wielki w Łodzi and the Filharmonia Łódzka.

The vocalists are Marta Śpionek, Angelika Gaj and Krzysztof Knapczyk, who also conceived the project. They are joined by BognaBand: Bogna Dulińska on piano, Sylwester Masłoń on double bass and Błażej Kozłowski on drums. Additional, unexpected instruments sometimes join in.

The announced songs include “Nessun Dorma” by Puccini, “Memory” from Cats, “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Misérables, “My Way” in its Polish version, “If I Were a Rich Man” from Fiddler on the Roof, “Time to Say Goodbye”, “Libiamo” from La Traviata, “Ocalić od zapomnienia” by Marek Grechuta and “Lullaby”, composed by Knapczyk. The organisers will publish the full setlist in advance, and since the event is interactive, the audience may help choose part of the repertoire.

Knapczyk, a tenor associated with the Teatr Muzyczny w Łodzi, has performed in Greece, Germany and the USA, and in “Queen Symfonicznie” and “A Tribute to Il Divo”. The show's staging includes costumes, lighting and dance sequences.
