“The Nutcracker” with music by Piotr Czajkowski comes to the Bałtycki Teatr Dramatyczny in Koszalin on 30.11.2026 at 7:00 PM. The Polish company Royal Classical Ballet will perform it, and the show is suitable for both children and adults.
The ballet has two acts. On Christmas Eve, young Klara finds a wooden nutcracker under the tree, a toy that no one else pays much attention to. Her family, as every year, celebrates the anticipation of the Christ Child's birth. When night falls, Klara falls asleep in an armchair, and the toy comes to life and defends her against the army of mice and their Mouse King. The nutcracker leads her brother's tin soldiers in battle and nearly pays with his life. Klara comes to his aid in time and is rewarded by the Snow Queen.
In the second act, the nutcracker turns into a handsome prince and takes Klara to the Land of Sweets. Along the way, she meets characters who dance a fiery flamenco, a traditional Russian dance, a Chinese dance, and an Eastern dance. In the kingdom's capital, Klara is welcomed like a true princess and invited to a palace ball, where she waltzes with the prince amid swirling floral garlands. At midnight, everything dissolves like mist, and the girl wakes in the armchair, holding the wooden toy in her arms.
According to the organizers, this is a classic story of good triumphing over evil, set in a Christmas atmosphere and in the world of a child's imagination. The preview also features the Sugar Plum Fairy, ballerinas, and mice fighting with brooms, while the Kingdom of Snow and the Land of Sweets are further stages of the journey. The work is part of the core ballet canon, and the company emphasizes that the performance offers an opportunity for generations to come together: children are treated with care, and adults can rediscover the child within. The preview also highlights the rich costumes and sets.
