“Sense and Sensibility” is a new adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel, a story about love, sisterly bonds and finding one’s place in the world. The sisters are played by Daisy Edgar-Jones, known from “Normal People” and “Where the Crawdads Sing,” and Esmé Creed-Miles, whom audiences know from “Hanna.”
After their father’s death, Elinor and Marianne Dashwood must leave their family home with their mother and younger sister. In their new reality they face social expectations, financial constraints and difficult choices of the heart. One follows reason, the other emotion.
The novel was first published in 1811. The new film is the fifth major film or television adaptation of this story.
