About Bolesław Czwójdziński Trail

Green walking trail of 34.8 km from Klęskowo through Beech Forest, Glinna and Kołbacz to Lake Miedwie.

The Bolesław Czwójdziński Trail is a green, waymarked walking trail 34.8 km long, running through the Szczecin Landscape Park “Puszcza Bukowa” and further east of Szczecin. Its patron, Bolesław Czwójdziński (1901-1972), was a Szczecin enthusiast of historic monuments and a pioneer of tourism and local studies in West Pomerania.

Route

The trail begins at the monumental “Oaks of Bolesław the Wrymouth” in Szczecin-Klęskowo. It leads through the wooded Beech Hills, passes nature reserves, the Chojnówka valley and its gorge known as the Czwójdziński Gate (2.0 km), the village of Kołowo (5.2 km) and the Arboretum in Glinna (11.3 km).

The route then reaches the Cistercian abbey in Kołbacz (18.7 km), descends through Rekowo and Bielkowo to the northern shore of Lake Miedwie, and ends at Kępa Bukowa near Ciszewo, where it joins the blue Anne Jagiellon Trail.

Practical information

  • Start: Szczecin-Klęskowo, Chłopska Street, at the Oaks of Bolesław the Wrymouth.
  • End: Kępa Bukowa near Ciszewo. At Miedwiecko (33.1 km) there is a railway halt that shortens the final stretch.
  • The trail is long, so it is best divided into sections between Kołowo, Glinna and Kołbacz.
  • The route is described as it stood in 2007; check the waymarks before setting out.
