About Cedynia Landscape Park

A landscape park in the Lower Oder Valley with the Cedynia Carpathians, nine nature reserves and panoramas of the valley.

Cedynia Landscape Park lies in the Lower Oder Valley and covers 308.5 km², with a buffer zone of 531.2 km². It was established on 1 April 1993. It is part of the Complex of Landscape Parks of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship.

Landscape

The area was shaped by the ice sheet of the last glaciation: a flattened river-valley floor bounded by high slopes was formed, with moraines, uplands, ravines, gorges, springs and small ponds in the fields. The park includes the Puszcza Piaskowa, the Krzymów and Moryń Hills, the hills known as the Cedynia Carpathians, the agricultural Cedynia Marshlands (Żuławy Cedyńskie) and the Mieszkowice Forests. The manager describes numerous viewpoints with wide panoramas of the Oder valley.

Nature reserves

Within the park's boundaries are nine nature reserves: “Bielinek”, “Dąbrowa Krzymowska”, “Dolina Świergotki”, “Gęsi Bastion pod Starą Rudnicą”, “Jeziora Siegniewskie”, “Olszyna Źródliskowa pod Lubiechowem Dolnym”, “Olszyny Ostrowskie”, “Wrzosowiska Cedyńskie im. inż. Wiesława Czyżewskiego” and “Słoneczne Wzgórza”. In the area you will find the Wrzosowiska Cedyńskie and the Dolina Świergotki, described under their own entries.

Historical sites

The park also includes traces of history: from the Battle of Cedynia to the Second World War. Among the tourist sites, Wikipedia lists Cedynia, Moryń, the Valley of Love in Zatonia Dolna, Czcibor Hill with the monument to the Battle of Cedynia, and the National Memorial Area of Siekierki, Stare Łysogórki, Gozdowice and Czelin. In Cedynia are the Regional Museum and the Cistercian nuns' convent.

Trails and access

According to the manager, the park is suitable for hiking and cycling, and the Western Lakelands cycle route runs through its territory. Trails, viewpoints, nature reserves and natural monuments are concentrated mainly in the Puszcza Piaskowa and the Mieszkowice Forests. Maps and information on the trails can be found with the park manager and at tourist information points.
