About Church of St Casimir the Prince in Police

The newest church in Police, on the Anna Jagiellon estate, with an organ from Switzerland and a chapel of Our Lady of Fatima.

The Church of St Casimir the Prince is the newest church in Police. It stands on the Anna Jagiellon housing estate, and its parish is the most populous in the Archdiocese of Szczecin-Kamień.

Construction from 1992

The parish was established in 1985. In 1992 the foundations were poured, and from June 1993 Masses were already celebrated in the bare walls. The main structure was completed in April 1996, in the summer of 1997 the roof tiles were laid, and in mid-1999 three bells blessed by John Paul II were hung in the turret. The church was designed so that about five thousand people could fit in the whole interior, and about a thousand on the pews.

Chapels and organ

In the right side aisle is the chapel of Our Lady of Fatima, with a figure brought from Fatima by pilgrims and with an altar of St John Paul II, which since 2014 has held relics of his blood. In the left aisle is the chapel of St Casimir, with a painting of the patron and his relics.

The church has a fifty-five-stop organ, brought from Switzerland, rebuilt and adapted to the interior. According to the Wikipedia entry it is the second largest in the archdiocese, after the instrument in the archcathedral in Szczecin. For many years concerts were held in the church as part of the Police Music Days "Cecyliada".
