A granite church from the second half of the 13th century, from the transitional period between Romanesque and Gothic, with a former cemetery around it.
The Church of St John the Baptist in Orzechów, in Cedynia municipality, is one of the oldest churches in this part of Gryfino County. It was built in the second half of the 13th century of granite ashlar. It is a branch church of the parish of Our Lady of Częstochowa in Czachów and stands in the heritage register.
The architecture represents the transitional period between Romanesque and Gothic. It is an oriented hall church without a distinct chancel, on a rectangular plan measuring 18 by 9.75 m, with a gable roof. Set into the west part of the body is a wooden, boarded bell tower from 1767, with a pyramidal roof.
In the west wall is a portal with two recessed orders, and above it in the gable can be seen the trace of a bricked-up rose window. The windows and portals in the side walls were later widened. The east wall has kept three pointed windows, of which the middle one is bricked up, and its gable is decorated with blind arcading. The interior has a flat ceiling, a gallery with an organ case and a neo-Renaissance pulpit. After the war the church was consecrated as a Catholic one in 1947.
Around the church the area of a former cemetery has survived, with several dozen former German gravestones and post-war burials, surrounded by a stone wall with a brick gate.
