About Church of St Joseph the Betrothed in Jenikowo

A neo-Gothic parish church from 1898 in Jenikowo, with a wooden tower from the 18th century that survived from an older church.

The Church of St Joseph the Betrothed in Jenikowo, in Maszewo municipality, is a neo-Gothic brick church from 1898. It serves as a parish church. It stands on the site of an earlier half-timbered church from the 18th century.

Brick and a wooden tower

The building on a rectangular plan ends on the east side in an apse closed on four sides, with an adjoining sacristy. The walls are supported by buttresses, and the west gable is decorated with blind arcading. On the west side stands an older 18th-century tower, wooden and boarded, with a pointed spire. A porch with pointed, stepped portals connects it to the nave.

Interior

The nave is covered by a raised wooden ceiling, and the chancel by a cross-rib vault. On the west wall is a gallery with an organ case, reached from outside through a small turret at the north-west corner. The church was consecrated as a Catholic one on 19 March 1947.

In the area lies the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Godów.
