About Church of St Otto the Bishop in Grzymiradz

Branch church in Grzymiradz from the 14th century, burned and blown up in 1945, rebuilt and consecrated in 1985.

The Church of St Otto the Bishop in Grzymiradz is a branch of the parish in Smolnica. Built before 1333 on a rectangular plan, of irregular erratic boulders and brick, it is covered with a gabled roof and has a low ridge turret by the west gable.

Baroque, fire and rebuilding

Later alterations gave the building a Baroque character, and in 1797 a half-timbered tower was added. The former furnishings included a cabinet altar from the turn of the 15th century and wooden sculptures from the early 16th century. On 25 December 1945 the church was burned and blown up, and only the perimeter walls survived. Rebuilding with the participation of the villagers began in 1984, and the consecration took place on 30 June 1985.
